Social Prescribing
At Act On It we believe that opportunities to build confidence, creativity and connections make us feel better.
However, these can be hard to find especially if you are from a marginalised group. Since 2004, we have innovated drama-based programmes that address this and improve mental health and well-being.
We love to work in partnership and closely with stakeholders already supporting those that could benefit most from our services. If you want more information or to make a referral, please contact us.
Examples of our Work
With young people
We specialise in working with young people who are not in school. Our current online programmes are a bridge back to engagement and achievement for those impacted by poor mental health and/or anxiety.
With adults
The ‘Hope’ Programme of drama workshops for adults. Online or Face to Face delivery. Sessions provide a moment creativity, connection and optimism for community groups or individuals.
Delivered in collaboration with Oakleaf Enterprise in Surrey and Anawim Birmingham Centre for Women.
The Loneliness Monologues
The Sussex Community Development Association Tackling Loneliness Programme funded Act On It to work with young people to create monologues to help themselves and others feel less alone in their loneliness.
We held online workshops with young people who are not in school or home educated. They created the monologues. Youth volunteers perform their words.
Changing Chalk
Online workshops for young people and adults that bring the benefits of a walk on the South Downs into your own home.
This project has been supported by the National Trust and the Changing Chalk Community Grants Scheme, and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
Participants co-created a well-being playlist inspired by the drama activities and the heritage and culture of the Downs.
